When my husband asked me if I wanted to go to the Indie Beauty Expo in Downtown, I jumped on the chance to not only have an awesome date night but to explore a bunch of beauty brands I haven’t even heard of! We arrived a little early so we walked around the city and stopped by The Ace Hotel for some coffee, and I am in love with that place! We’ll definitely be going back there for some lunch at L.A. Chapter or drinks up on the gorgeous Rooftop!  The Expo was a few streets over where we arrived right on time (which I really recommend) because it is less crowded and you can see more of each brand without fighting the crowd. The space was super pretty and decked out with a giant ivy/floral photo wall, a cotton candy maker, a flower crown station, and most importantly, a bar. The Flower crown station was probably my favorite part and went so perfectly with my half braid crown I already did! My favorite booth was by far The Brow Gal where I had my first ever Brow Shaping! I must say I am totally hooked now and I’m definitely liking my brows much more on the daily. I have heard of this brand by Tonja Crooks before because I received one of her Brow Gels in a Fab Fit Fun box from earlier last year. The second they said with purchase we do free brow shaping I immediately sat down and was so happy that I did. I ended up purchasing the Brow Pencil in the color 04 Medium Brown, but will probably get the lighter one in 05 Taupe, for summertime when my locks get lighter and I actually keep up with my roots! I also bought the Brow Highlighter Pencil in 01 Cherup/Champagne and I am obsessed and use these regularly now. Another brand I really fell in love with was the Julie Hewett lip line! What’s super great about this line is how nourishing and hydrating their lipsticks are! They’re made with organic camellia oil that makes your lips feel so soft but still with vibrant lasting color! I ended up purchasing the Lip Liner in Poppy and the Lipstick in the color Belle Noir and it is stunning and doesn’t start flaking off like most matte lipsticks that I’ve found. Overall, I had a blast and would definitely be returning for next years event! Perhaps with a couple girlfriends though so we can play with all the fun products! We ended our evening with heading back to the valley and finally checking out Stout on Ventura Blvd. Their Poutine and Bread Pudding are to die for, their beer list is insane, and if you’re a Burger lover, this is your spot. As for my look, I linked the skirt below and similar options for the rest of the pieces because this look is unfortunately older and I couldn’t find exact items online any longer. Wishing everyone an awesome Monday! It’s rainy and gloomy here so I’ll be staying in cleaning and possibly pampering myself with a little face/lip mask!

  1. The flower crown station sounds really fun & I love your preppy outfit. I definitely agree that the bar is the most important part too! haha

  2. Love this look, so stylish and classic at the same time!
